RAM Random Access Memory. The memory used for temporary storage of information on active documents and programs

 

Reccord An individual entry in a database comprising several categories of information. For example, an address book database comprises entries or  reccords each of which has a name, address and telephone number. 

 

Recycle Bin. A Desktop feature that allows you to delete files. To rescue or'recycle' a file, drag it back out of the bin. To delete a file completely, right click on it and select Empty REcycle Bin. 

 

Right click To press and release the right mouse button once. Right clicking often calls up a pop up menu and is often a shortcut to varoius actions. See also Click 

 

Resolution The degree of detail on a screen or a printed document. It is measured in dots per square inch, The more dots, the greater the detail. 

 

ROM ReadOnly Memory chips used by the computer for storing basic details about the PC, such as BIOS.

 

Router Device that links a local or home network of computers to a remote network, such as the internet. See Internet 

 

Run Command A Window feature that allows you to type in the name of the program you wish to use, or the DOS command you wissh to execute. To enter a command, go to the start menu and click on Run.
