Active Window The window you are working in. To activate a window, click on it and it will jump to the front of your screen, in front of any other open window. See Window

 

ADSL Asymetric Digital Subscriber Line. A way of getting broadband Internet access through a normal telephone line. See Broadband

 

Alt key A key on the keyboard which gives commands when pressed in combination with other keys.

 

Application Program A piece of software that performs specific kinds of tasks. For example Microsoft Word is a word processing application program. See Program,Software

 

Archive To transfer files toa seperate storage system,such as a CD-R

 

Attachment A file such as a picture or spreadsheet that is sent with an e-mail message.

 

Audio File A file containing a digital recording of sound. In Windows, audio files usually have ´.wav' after their file ame. See Digital
