Keyword Mix is important Print E-mail

A website MUST have a multiple Search Phrases/Keyword mix

KeywordsYou have to have a good and relevant mix of Search Phrases on your website if you want to get high rankings on Google. If your website has a lot of Keywords and Search Phrases that are related to a specific content the more chances the website has that Google will judge your site being relevant for that particular textual content.

It is not easy to strike the right balance. Over step the level of keyword density and Google will regard your site as trying to spam and deceive Google.

If the keyword/Search Phrase density is correct, your website will be rewarded with higher rankings. If you follow the steps we have outlined you will have a good chance of breaking into the top with a wide mix of keywords. Being ranked with just one or two Keywords is no longer enough.

Step 1: Remove stuffed keywords from your web pages

Some webmasters and most web designers still think that they have to use as many Keywords as possible and that every page must be full of them and that they must separate the Keywords with a comma. This was true once upon a time, but that time is already 5 years ago. In terms of the Internet this is a Lifetime.

It is easy to recognize these sites. They have often very LONG and WRONG meta tags with dozens if not hundreds of keywords. There is absolutely NO chance of getting high rankings with a website like that. Equally, there are a great number of sites where the web designer failed to place any Description or Keywords inside the META TAGS a site such as that would not be penalised by Search Engines, but would never achieve a Google Ranking either.

Adding lots of keywords to a web page is keyword stuffing and all search engines consider this as spam. Anybody using this method thinking that it will benefit their website will in fact risk the exact opposite. Search Engines will penalize the website, by lowering the rankings or worse take your site out of the index completely.

Action:  if your web pages contain long keywords lists. Remove them from your site and pages.

Step 2: Optimize every single page of your website for different keywords

Adding many keywords on the same web page, the web page will become a little more relevant to many keywords, but if you optimize a web page for one keyword/key phrase, then your web page will become more relevant and Google will pay attention to that very quickly.

It is much easier to get high rankings if the web page is very relevant to the searched keyword. For that reason, you should optimize as many pages of your website for as many keywords as possible.

The keywords for which you optimize your web pages should be related. If you have a card shop, optimize different pages of your website for the keywords birthday cards, x-mas cards, wedding cards,. By having optimized web pages for these keywords, you show Google that your website is relevant to the topic cards.

Action Find the best keywords (the ones real people use) for your website and then optimize different pages of your website for different keywords.

Step 3: Add keyword modifiers and combine these variations

In step two, you have optimized your web pages for keywords such as birthday cards and x-mas cards. Now you need to add modifiers to these keywords on your optimized pages. For example, the x-mas cards page could include these keyword variations: x-mas card shop, special offers on birthday cards etc.

It's always a good idea to combine all keyword variations in one sentence for your Meta Tag Title. You should do that for each and every page on your site. 99% of all website use the Global site title only, which is quite wrong. This alteration when implemented correctly will go a long way of making your site more Search Engine friendly. There are many more factors which decide the ranking of a website, but it is a good start.
